I know I’m officially ‘going on about it’ now, but I really can’t wait for Outrageous Fortune Series 5 to start! I don’t think I’ve seen a TV show as good as this since The A-Team.

Here’s the ‘Coming Soon’ ad they’ve been playing on TV3:

Super choice!!

I mentioned a while back that we had gotten into Outrageous Fortune, since moving to West Auckland. For those of you who haven’t seen it, OF is about a family trying to go straight after living with crime in their DNA since, like forever. The show features an amazing cast (Ugly Betty fans may recognise one; Black Sheep fans may recognise another!) who put on a really good show, the scripts are excellent and the storylines cover just about every aspect of life. There are also a few local-to-us scenes and West Auckland mentions.

It’s just really darn good and we have become as close as is possible to being addicted to a TV show. We are about half way through series 4 and desperate to finish it before series 5 begins on TV3.

So imagine my delight when I found this yesterday:

Talk about timing! I reckon we’ll just finish Series 4 just in time… Go Westies!

New Zealand’s Fourth Favourite Bar…

Good stuff. Since the very first time I watched the Dudley Moore classic ‘Crazy People’, I have been wanting more advertisers to take gambles on campaigns like this. Not full on detrimental stuff, just a bit more honest.

Cadbury’s and Moro have done just that with their latest gem of an ad: ‘New Zealand’s 4th Favourite Bar’. It’s totally not honest (well, it could be, but for the ‘allegedly’ featured at the end of the ad), but it makes a refreshing change from bores like ‘the diamond standard’ or ‘kills 99.99% of all known germs’ (both from other choc ads!). To make matters better, it’s a really funny ad too…

Has anyone else ever surpassed your expectations with an advertisement? Anyone ever deprecated their own product in the name of sales? Comments below, please. I’d love to know…
